Azumanofumoto History

Sake brewing

Higashi no Fumoto Sake Brewery is located in the foothills of Ise Kumano Taisha Shrine in the Tohoku region. Since our founding in 1896 (Meiji 29), we have continued to make "sake that satisfies the heart of the drinker." We are particular about using local rice and water, and are passing on the techniques of ginjo brewing to the next generation. Hoping to make young people more familiar with sake, we are currently working on a new initiative, developing a new brand called "Tenkyu" in collaboration with students from Tohoku University of Art and Design. Higashi no Fumoto Sake Brewery continues to challenge itself to create sake that is loved by each generation while protecting the traditions of sake brewing handed down from its predecessors.
